  1. Interpenetration of solids and developments The line of intersection where two solids meet (e.g. a cylinder joining a cone, two cylinders at an angle, a prism through a pyramid). Methods: Notes 1 PDF
  1. Assembly drawings and machine elements Show how parts fit together in their working positions: a sectional assembly with a parts list (item number, name, material, quantity) and balloons referencing each part. Notes 1 PDF
  1. Pictorial projection and perspective Isometric drawing uses true lengths on all three axes; isometric projection uses the isometric scale (lengths reduced to about 0.816 of true length), which is the true projected size. Notes 1 PDF
  1. Computer-aided design and the design process 2D drafting and 3D modelling (wireframe, surface and solid models); parametric modelling, assemblies, rendering and simulation (stress analysis). Benefits: accuracy, speed of editing, libraries of standard parts, sharing files, and direct links to manufacture. Notes 1 PDF
