Recruiting staff

Identify the job, advertise, shortlist, interview and select the best candidate, then give a contract and induction.

Motivating workers

Fair pay, recognition, training, good working conditions, teamwork, and opportunities for promotion. Motivated workers are more productive and stay longer.

Leadership styles

  • Autocratic: the leader decides alone – quick but can lower morale.
  • Democratic: workers are consulted – improves morale but slower.
  • Laissez-faire: workers decide – suits skilled, motivated teams.

Business ethics

Doing business in a morally right way: honesty in weighing and pricing, paying fair wages, keeping promises, not selling expired or fake goods, avoiding corruption and bribery, and protecting the environment.

Social responsibility

Businesses support their communities by sponsoring schools and sports, employing local people, and disposing of waste safely.

Exam tip: Link ethics to long-term success: honest businesses keep customers and good workers.
