  • Full stop (.) at the end of a statement.
  • Question mark (?) after a question.
  • Exclamation mark (!) to show strong feeling.
  • Comma (,) in lists, after "Yes" or "No", and to separate parts of a sentence.
  • Apostrophe (') for missing letters (don't = do not) and to show ownership (the girl's bag; the girls' bags).
  • Inverted commas (" ") around the exact words someone says.
